Bob Hall is a senior partner who heads the firm’s commercial real estate practice group and leads the automotive industry team. He serves a broad range of clients such as businesses, banks, pension funds, developers, trade associations and institutional clients. In the area of commercial law, his specialities include acquisitions, dispositions and financing of businesses and major commercial properties including extensive expertise in joint ventures, partnerships and institutional financings. Bob’s 25 years of experience in the automotive industry has made him one of the leaders serving dealerships, financial institutions and trade associations within the auto sector. He has presented a variety of papers and held numerous seminars to companies and institutions in the auto industry. Outside of the firm, Bob is actively involved in a number of community charitable organizations and serves as an executive and coach in minor baseball leagues.

Tom is an audit partner in KPMG’s Private Enterprise group and has over 16 years of audit experience serving private clients in the automotive dealer sector, transportation and logistics, retail, distribution services and manufacturing industries ranging from small owner managed businesses to large multinationals. Tom was instrumental in the development, testing and training of the KPMG software created by KPMG to assist in the auditing of private enterprise clients. He has extensive experience in converting audit clients to this platform. Tom is known by many of his clients as a trusted business advisor and is often called upon to provide guidance on all types of private client matters including sales and acquisitions, operational improvement matters and general business advice.
Tom was appointed the GTA Transportation Sector Leader in 2009 and has a large automotive client base including transportation and logistics companies as well as several large automotive dealerships including brands such as VW, Buick, GMC, Chevrolet, Toyota, Porsche, Audi, Hyundai, Mclaren, BMW and Mini. Jacob Ellens, AACI, FRI, was awarded the AACI designation in 1983 and the FRI designation (Fellow of the Real Estate Institute) in 1977. Mr. Ellens began his career in real estate as a salesman for T. Gordon Wyllie Real Estate in Niagara Falls and subsequent to this was employed with the P. J. Harvey Realties in Brantford, an established and diversified real estate firm where he began his career as an appraiser. In addition to appraising, Mr. Ellens was also engaged in property management and real estate sales. In 1987, Mr. Ellens joined the firm of Barry B. Humphreys & Associates and specialized in the valuation of commercial, industrial and investment properties in the Greater Hamilton area prior to starting his own firm in 1989. Mr. Ellens has extensive experience as an expert witness before various courts and tribunals and has experience in expropriation, property tax appeals and general real estate consultation. Mr. Ellens is Past President of the Hamilton Chapter of the Appraisal Institute of Canada, Past Director of the Ontario Association of the Appraisal Institute of Canada and has been involved in various committees at the provincial and national level for the Appraisal Institute of Canada.
